This new flap described by Allen RJ et al in 2012 is increasingly becoming a fundamental tool for the autologous reconstruction (with its own tissues) of the breasts in all those patients with deficient abdominal tissue or with previous abdominal surgical scars (which do not allow the use of the DIEP flap).

The requests of patients who, after mastectomy, even bialteral, want to undergo this type of reconstruction are increasingly numerous.

Reconstruction with autologous tissues, we remind you that it allows women to be free from the risk of periprosthetic capsule contracture, prosthesis rupture, prosthesis infections, late seromas, to which all women who have a breast prosthesis are linked.

The PAP flap is recommended for reconstruction of small to medium sized breasts and / or when abdominal donor tissues are inadequate. The residual scar is perfectly camouflaged in the lower gluteal groove.
